The perfect fringe for every face shape!

Women can easily transform their look by donning a fringe for it flatters the face. The fact that fringes give a fresh vibe to our look, it is harder for many women not to try something different. Celebrity stylist reveals that bangs are classic for they have been existed and they are not going to fade. Continuous reinvention is necessary to keep them fresh, stylish, and modern. Hence, bangs will never go out of style.

However, not all fringes fit every face shape. To know what type of fringe that better suits your face, here is a quick guide in choosing the right fringe for your face.

If your face is round in shape, do not attempt to have straight and blunt bangs for they accentuate fullness and shortness. To create definition, opt for thick, side swept bangs that are cut or razored at a strong angle from short to long. Side swept bangs or middle swept are your best choices for they give an oval effect to your face, making your face slim and define your cheekbones. Bangs that are a little shorter in the middle suits round-shaped face for it gives length, making it appear more oval. Airy and wispy bang is also an option to show more forehead, adding length to the face. Asymmetrical bang is great, too for it diverts the eye.

If your face is long, sporting bangs can diminish the length of a long face. Long-shaped face has high forehead so when they cover it with bangs, the face becomes shortened with an illusion of more width to the face. Longer bangs are the best. They can be blunt for a stronger, trendier look or edges can be softened or unforced.

For squared faced women, it is best to don long, wispy, angled bang for it cuts the square dimension. This shape of the face is flattered that way to give length to the face. In addition, long, eye-grazing bangs that are tapered on the sides is also appropriate for square face shapes. Heavy bangs need to hit the right place; otherwise, they can overpower your face. Leave the heaviest pieces on the sides so as not to mask your eyes.  This also adds a soft element to face with square shape. You can also try layered bangs that extend to outer corners of the eyes to give balance.

For oval-faced women, you are very fortunate because your face shape is the most versatile. You look good on long, short or side-swept bangs. However, you can pull off the drama of heavy, blunt styles best. In addition, you can wear angled and shorter bangs. For a more feminine look, razored bang suits well for it gives flow and texture. Possessing oval shaped face can also sport super short and right to the hairline bangs for the edgiest of style.

For heart-shaped faced, your goal is to balance out the thinner jawline with the wider forehead. Instead of getting a full fringe, go for long, layered side bangs that draw attention to the eyes, lips and middle of the face. The shortest piece should hit at the eyebrow and the longest should end at the top of the cheekbones.  Side-swept fringe is ideal for heart-shaped face. You can also look great when you don choppy bangs that are long enough to push to one side for versatility.

In order to maintain your fringe looking its finest, here are the ways to do it:

  • For long bangs, blow dry using a big round boar-bristle brush. On damp hair, brush hair from side to side to smooth out any cowlicks. Ensure that you get right at the roots to control any wave. When the hair is dry, run a flat iron over them to make it straighter. Use hair spray if your hair is fine and limp or serum if your hair is dry and coarse.
  • Maintain your short bangs by using your fingers to push hair into shape and air-dry or blow dry in downward direction so they don’t stick straight up.  For finish and texture definition, apply wax.
  • To keep your side-swept fringes, blow forward at first using a round brush, lifting at the hairline to give volume. This will not make the bangs stuck to the forehead. Use a big curling iron to give a nice bend to the side. Finish it with hairspray to hold.
